Zionism Today

More than a century since the birth of modern Zionism and almost seventy years since the creation of the State of Israel, Jewish identity and its connection to the Jewish state and homeland is increasingly complex.  As politics and religion continue to polarize, there are fewer spaces in which Jews can ask questions without being judged for being too pro-Israel or anti-Israel.  Old assumptions are driving Jews away, and new realities are frustrating established Jewish organizations.  This course will help participants understand why we can no longer take Zionism for granted among all quarters of the Jewish community, how to talk civilly and openly about questions, and how to engage or re-engage disenfranchised Jews in conversation about the centrality of Israel to the Jewish people. All are welcome to come with an open mind.
